The US was overflown with dollars. Luckily the US found something to do with half a trillion of it (Japan didn't and soon Europe will discover that too) and explored shale oil. After that oil boom became too visible, the US friends, my hosts here, decide to finish off the shale boom. They did not want the flow of USD stop coming to here. How? the Saudis discovered that the US was closing the USD tap and the easy QE money would stop flowing. They time the oil glut at the right time and the rest soon be history. Thus don't get too excited...
