Of the 10 states with the highest Gini coefficients, only California, New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut can be described as liberal.
D.C., NY, Mass., and CT are also at the top of the chart.

California is also up there.

Among regions within a state, the most income inequality can be seen in urban areas, which are also typically local liberal strongholds.
