Sure enough, he was and was held for 4 years though was finally released. It amazes me that people do such things. What did he think would happen? Our daughter and husband went to Syria [from London] about 5 years ago. I thought they were mad as it was already a festering hazard zone likely to go bang any time. Then the volcano erupted and they were a bit stuck for a week or so. I had my fingers crossed and held my breath that things would stay stable until the smoke cleared. Maybe I'm hyper sensitive, but the risks I notice often come to pass, such as hijacking airliners [in 1999 the USA airliner I was in going across the USA had the cockpit door open one step in front of me], shooting down an airliner over Ukraine [I was very concerned when I realized my A380 was heading for Ukraine last May and did in fact fly over it - stupid Emirates!!! Sure enough, a Malaysian one was shot down a short time later.] Syria turned to carnage. I don't want to take the risks. Other people put me at risk. Mqurice
