I'd say the drop today has more to do with tax selling, the continuous digestion of the recent large drop, options expirations this Friday, and other reasons pointed out by others here. But not because the Dow went down 18.90 points...

Well all what you said - tax selling etc - gets directly reflected
in a lower DOW...
So you have said nothing different! The only
difference is that I use the DOW to get a feel for the market
and you have your own explanation which finally boils down to a
lower DOW.

If you get a chance look at ORCL's intraday chart and the DOW's
intraday chart at lombard.com today. It is free during
non-trading hours and you normally do not see such similarity such
as today. If you do not see a similarity between both the graphs
then I guess I need to go see an opthamologist! (do not try this on
any other website as nobody comes close to lombard with rgd to
intraday charts)

I am not going to attempt to waste my time trying to convince
folks here that ORCL follows the DOW most of the time. If you
think it doesn't then just stick to it... This is not AMAT or
ASND which behave slighly differently. ORCL is a very "mature"
and predictable stock (except for the last plunge from 32 to 23)
from my perspective.
