You can probably use the old fashioned RCA (yellow,white,red cable) connectors to hook up your DVD player and that would leave a HDMI port available for your Firestick.

I tried it, Josh. My DVD player doesn't have the necessary ports. It had one yellow port, but that did not do the job.

I suppose I could hook up the TV to the cable box with the three colored cables, but that would degrade the picture quality.

Great suggestion, though.
