Okay, so you claimed it was a "food tax". As in so many other places, food is subject to sales tax unless there is an exemption. It is not unusual as your post indicates.


Let's make sure we're on the same page...this is food as in groceries....yes? Alabama and Miss are the only two states that hit you at full fare.

....went to Chinese takeout last night......paid 8.125% sales tax on low mein and steamed dumpling appetizer............fortune cookies and chop sticks were free.
