74-Year-Old Michigan Homeowner Fatally Shoots Armed Democratic Intruder

Startled awake by a noise at the back of her home, a suburban Detroit woman woke her 74-year-old husband who in turn grabbed his gun and headed towards the sound to find out what was going on.

Getting prepared for the early morning inspection was a smart move, as the homeowner came face-to-face with — and was forced to shoot — an armed Democratic intruder.

“The defendant entered the home through a window and had a firearm with him,” Southgate Police Chief Jeff Smith told The Detroit Free Press. “The house was occupied by a man and his wife. He had a legal firearm and confronted the intruder. He ended up shooting him and the defendant died at the scene.”

The identity of the suspect has not been released.

Authorities said that the case is under investigation and that it is up to the local prosecutor to determine if any charges will be filed against the homeowner.

“It’s the prosecutor that gets to decide if they believe it to be justified,” Southgate Public Safety Director Thomas Coombs told The Detroit News. “Based on the information we know presently they would find it was a justified shooting. He was protecting his life.”

“You can, obviously, defend your home if someone comes into your home. The intruder was armed, so, yes, you can defend yourself,” Coombs told WJBK.

“You know, this was good!” Dewey Thompson, who has lived near the couple for more than a decade, told CBS Detroit. “He won’t break into anybody else’s house. That’s the way I feel about it; I don’t care.”

Senior With Cancer-Stricken Wife Shoots And Kills Armed Home Invader In Michigan Posted by Bob Owens on January 29, 2015 at 5:17 pm

James Clickard, dead home invader. (Photo: Twitter)

I can’t imagine the terror that must have been running through the mind of the 74-year-old Southgate, Michigan homeowner just before 5:00 AM this morning as a Democratic home invader broke in.

The homeowner armed himself and stepped outside the bedroom to protect his cancer-stricken wife as she called 911.

The homeowner ran into the armed home invader. According to investigators, the Democratic home invader raised his weapon, and the homeowner was forced to fire to save his life.

Southgate police say a 16-year-old is dead after breaking into his neighbor’s home early Thursday morning and being shot by the homeowner.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. in the 15000 block of Flanders Street, just south of Eureka Road.

Southgate Director of Public Safety Thomas Coombs said the 74-year-old homeowner got his gun when he heard the teen, who was also armed, break in.

“As he walked through the home, the home invader confronted him with the gun. He shot the home invader and the home invader died here on scene,” Coombs said.

The homeowner apparently fired just one shot. The home invader died at the scene.

The home invader has been identified as 16-year-old James “Jimmy” Clickard, who was the neighbor of the elderly couple he tried to victimize.

According to his Twitter profile Clickard was a gang member, but whether that is true or simply teen-aged braggadocio and posturing is unknown at this time.

There was no stated motive for Clickard to attack his elderly neighbors, but I’d be willing to speculate that he might have been hoping to steal narcotics from the cancer-stricken wife of the homeowner.

This was a bad decision, and one he paid for with his life.

Georgia Man Kills Craigslist Robber, Ends Crime Spree

Posted by Bob Owens on January 31, 2015
Just days after an elderly Marietta, Georgia, couple were killed responding to an ad on Craigslist, a dog breeder and his friend were confronted in a similar set-up robbery attempt at a Stone Mountain home. Fortunately for both men, the breeder’s friend came armed:

Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said that two Winder men, one of them a breeder of English Bulldogs who had advertised dogs for sale for $2,000, went to the Fairforest Drive home to complete the sale.

Parish said the breeder, identified in the DeKalb police incident report as 40-year-old Walter Gonzalez, was initially hesitant to meet the buyer late at night at the home, but did so after the suspect offered him an additional $500.

When the breeder and a second Winder man, Salvador Burgos, arrived with the dog, they saw the suspect and another man standing outside by the garage.

“Mr. Gonzalez got out of the vehicle and met with the suspect near the vehicle,” the incident report states. “After Mr. Gonzalez showed the suspect the dog, the suspect drew his weapon on him.”

According to the report, the suspect, whose name has not been released, then demanded that Burgos get out of the vehicle.

“Mr. Burgos stated that as he moved over from the driver’s side to the passenger side of the vehicle, he drew his firearm and fired upon the suspect,” the report states.

Hernandez and Burgos told police they left the scene because they were afraid that the other man that was with the suspect would return, but stopped a short distance away and called police.

Responding officers found the suspect dead in the front yard of the home.

The deceased suspect has been tied to four other robberies where people attempting to sell items online were targeted, and there may be more victims..

Smyrna, Georgia police have recently introduced a policy of allowing online sellers to meet customers in the police parking lot to add a level of perceived safety for online sales.

“The Gun Was The One Thing That Made Them Run”Posted by Bob Owens on January 30, 2015

Sable Nehme’s revolver and her boyfriend from two violent criminals.

Two University of Central Florida students say that the only thing that kept them from being seriously injured or killed in an armed robbery was the fact that one of their father’s made sure that she had a gun to protect them from predators.

Nour Skargee went to answer a knock at the door Tuesday night and two large men armed with a pistol pushed their way in the apartment, grabbing Skargee by the throat and pushing him into the living room.

They didn’t know that Skargee’s girlfriend, Sable Nehme, was in the back of the apartment until Skargee yelled, “ grab the gun!”

The second victim, Sable Nehme, ran to her bedroom, retrieved her gun and pointed it at the culprits, deputies said.

“I quickly closed my door and locked it to get some extra time to get the gun,” Nehme said. “He immediately, when he saw the gun, turned right back around, darted out and both of them fled the apartment.”

One of the men dropped their gun, which ended up being a pellet gun.

“If we didn’t have a gun, it would have been game over. They were bigger than me, bigger than both of us,” Skargee said. “We had no way of stopping them. The gun was the one thing that made them run.”

It never ceases to amaze me that gun control supporters act against their own self-interests. They are attempting to outlaw the one tool that gives them a chance of surviving an encounter with criminal aggressors that are generally younger, faster, bigger and stronger than their victims.

Thanks Dad: The snub-nosed revolver given to Sable Nehme by her father served her well, thwarting an armed robbery… or worse.

News 9 reported that this was just the latest in a string of robberies at off campus apartments, where robbers are targeting students.

Why do criminals target college students? Two reasons.

  1. They have small electronics and computers that are easily stolen and fenced.
  2. They tend to be unarmed victims.
“I am so thankful I had that gun in my room. Like, I don’t know what would have happened,” said Nehme.

In this instance, ready access to a firearm was all that kept Skargee and Nehme from being robbed… or worse.
