My objection was to the use of the term "food tax". It was needless nitpicking on my part. Of course it is regressive, and I do object to it.

I do prefer sales taxes to income taxes, but with adjustments to remove the regressivity for poor people from the sales tax. I would eliminate the income and payroll tax entirely in favor of a NST with credits for essential items for living. Something like the Fair Tax would be great for America.
