Hillenbrand Industries Completes the Acquisition of Certain Vickers Medical Businesses BATESVILLE, Ind., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Hillenbrand Industries Inc. (NYSE: HB - news), today announced that it had completed the previously announced acquisition of certain Vickers PLC's medical businesses, including Air-Shields Inc., Medical Industrial Equipment Limited, Narco Medical Services, Narco Scientific Limited, and A-SIS for a purchase price of approximately 59.8 million Pounds Sterling (approximately $99 million at current exchange rates). These businesses will become part of Hill-Rom Inc., a wholly owned Hillenbrand subsidiary. Simultaneously, with the purchase of these businesses by Hill- Rom, Oxford Instruments PLC is buying the Vicker's Neurology Group, consisting of Medelec, TECA, and certain other businesses for consideration of approximately 12.7 million Pounds. ''We are extremely pleased to complete this transaction,'' said Gus Hillenbrand, president and CEO of Hillenbrand Industries. ''Air Shields is a very good fit with our Hill-Rom business as it complements Hill-Rom's maternity/infant care business unit.
