Options update for 12/22...Nothing like a positive mention in Barrons

Bell took off today like a home-sick angel after being termed 'under-valued' in Barrons over the weekend. Shows the power those US funds have when they decide they want to buy something. Bell closed on the day's high, $47.95, up 2.70, within spitting distance of its all-time high of $48.15. With any kind of benign market, Bell should go through that like corn through a goose. Vols stable. (25,26)

N: not much to report on Inco...more talk on the street and in the press about someone taking a run at N--some spec buying of cheap out-of-the-money calls, but nothing like that 2000 buy last week. (43.5,41)

ABX: Barrick gained back most of what it lost Friday; still waiting for bullion to move past $292 spot before I get excited. (45,45)

BLD: Ballard is setting some sort of record for trading halts. Today was the third in the last five days. Seems old man Ballard is retiring due to health reasons. I sure hope he's not like that beans guy who is the only one who has the formula in his head. Vols creeping up after the last two day's worth of selling in the stock. (61,58).

My system was up-graded with another CPU today...when I fired it up and tried to calc my LBA Leaps (2000)...surprise! The program displayed the expiry as Jan 1900! It turns out I was inadvertently given an older version of the program, but if you don't think the 2000 bug will affect you, think again.

In case I don't post again before Christmas, let me wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a healthy, prosperous new year.

Happy trading.
