I like to calculate my efficiency like this:

( energy output ) - ( fuel input cost ) after amortization of delivery technology = efficiency.

Where renewables score 100% and set the bar for all other technologies, which score under 100%.

In the lab. You didn't specify 'commercially available'. There is no reason to believe that they won't be able to commercialize them. They promise to be significantly cheaper, too.
