Most of my projects have not been what we consider big, more than 6 months of effort. The two I have been on were 1 - 2 years, we have a good track record for projects, don't know how this compares to others. I have worked in other large shops that have had an even better record.

The year 2000 project is NOT difficult just big. Our other large projects have been FAR MORE COMPLEX, such as converting from a retail accounting system to a cost based at the UPC level, very complex, 2 years long and implemented on time. We are now in the process of rewriting our entire supply chain.

Our year 2000 project is taking up 17% of our resources, the work is simple and boring; big because it effects all systems, but not a complex project. We have found the same experience with the other large compaines in our area.
