Look at the SOX index.

chart1.bigcharts.com:80/chart?time=10&freq=2&uf=0&lf=4&type=4&style=8&size=3&maval=10&state=0&compidx=aaaaa%3A0&symb=SOX&ma=3&comp=&trans=0&r=chart&sid=11520&sec=x&xyz=234104188&s=21042

any discussion of this industry should include a look at the SOX index over the course of past declines.

I think the weekly chart above shows how a recovery from a down cycle can take about 4-6 months--once the bottom is Reached.

and I think we'll hit bottom around 200 to 210 on the SOX, sometime this winter/spring. That's another -20% on the downside, median range.

We could see a range between 250 and 280 in the next few weeks, with renewed selling pressure by Feb.

Every correction of the SOX this decade has turned positive in April/May of even numbered years--no exceptions.
