<< Low unemployment is causing wage inflation, >>

Lower cost imports are keeping prices in check.

<< Maybe productivity is being seriously underestimated, >>

I am positive productivity has increased. Mine has multiplied 10 fold.
This thread is a good example. I can now get news that other people have spent time finding handed to me on a silver platter (in this case the AMAT thread).

<< The Fed has repeatedly said they will raise interest rates
at the first sign of price inflation. >>

I think they are now afraid of DEflation.

I hope youa re right but after all my stocks go up and I get out of them so I can get back in at lower prices just like the analists who downgrade AMAT so they can buy at attractive prices. JMHO

Ref. to most of your but mostly #7 about volatility increasing. You got any ideas on this. --- maybe it has something to do with fast and accurate information exchange, --- maybe it has something to do with the sheer number of investors, --- and what about momentum players on the increase, and even that investors and mutual fund managers control this market now not just 4 or 5 big ole brokerage houses. What one tool has given any Joe America the visibility to become a part of this market and create the "volatility" ----- gosh all I can think of would be THE COMPUTER. ----- And for Joe America and for Corperate America it; the computer age is only on its infancy my friend so as investors that want to participate better try on a little piece of the companys that will lead this tech into the new century. That I guess leaves me long on AMAT does't it.
