Because we haven't had a bathroom, we've always used the facilities that are avail at the various places we've stayed. I've always brought along a bath bag with towels, flip-flops, shampoo and soap.

Love the idea of just jumping overboard. I've jumped in a few lakes and rivers when camping now and again. ;)

The hot water heater was the biggest problem I had. Drained the batteries faster than the microwave.

Never had an electric H2O heater on any of our RVs or motor homes.
They were all Propane heated with small electric pumps or in days gone by, non existent.
