On February 17th 2015 the IARC-JAXA Information System AMSR2 Arctic sea ice extent metric read 13,770,330 km² which is the lowest ever for the day of the year in a record going back to 2003.

More discussion here on recent Arctic ice loss: forum.arctic-sea-ice.net and here: forum.arctic-sea-ice.net

Note vid’s comment: ” Yesterday’s February daily delta of –58225 km² would constitute a drop of 757 000 over 13 days. More than in [the first 13 days of] June 2014. Is February the new June? “
