Tulsa Residents Are Lawfully Killing Bad Guys At A Rate Of 1 Every 10 Days

Posted by Bob Owens on February 19, 2015 at 5:22 pm

We’re only 50 days into 2015, but those 50 days have been wild ones in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a bad one for criminals.

Tusla’s residents have already put five Democratic bad guys in the ground in shootings that have been ruled justifiable self-defense.

It’s not a trend that anyone expects to continue. There were only eight legal homicides in Tulsa in all of 2014, and only two of those incidents involving average citizens. The other six justifiable homicides in Tulsa in 2014 involved police officers.

Tusla Police Sgt. Dave Walker notes that it’s been an unusual year so far.

Of the 11 homicide victims so far this year, five have been killed by civilians or security guards in shootings Tulsa police have deemed self-defense. For comparison’s sake, only eight such homicides occurred in all of 2014, and six of those involved Tulsa police officers. Tulsa police have not been involved in a shooting yet this year.

“It’s been an odd year,” Walker said. “I’m sure it will even out over the next 12 months, but, yeah, … it’s been odd.”

We’re sure that critics of so-called “stand your ground” laws would love to blame Oklahoma’s 2006 adoption of legislation that, “specifies that the victim need not be in fear of his or her life — use of deadly force is protected as long as the victim has ‘reasonable belief’ the intruder might use ‘any’ physical force, ‘no matter how slight.”

The problem for critics is that in four of the five shootings the state’s version of “stand your ground” clearly wasn’t relevant, and in the final shooting, where two serial armed robbers were killed by a store clerk, the District Attorney personally noted that the bad guys fired first.

Moms Demand Action and other gun control groups keep attempting to pretend that good guys with guns don’t make a different in their communities.

Then again, these groups are far more often wrong than right.

THANKS, SON: Widow Dispatches Ohio Home Invader With Gifted Gun

Posted by Bob Owens on February 19, 2015 at 2:41 pm

An Ohio man worried about his widowed mother living alone in a crime-plagued Columbus neighborhood bought her a gun just last week, hoping that she’d never have to use it.

His timing could not have been more fortuitous:

A man was shot while reportedly breaking into homes in a west Columbus neighborhood.

It happened Thursday around 5 a.m. on North Guilford Avenue.

Columbus Police at the scene tell 10TV a widow heard someone breaking in, grabbed her gun and shot the intruder.

“She was armed and apparently fired multiple shots at him,” said Sgt. Dave Sicilia.

The woman’s son says he bought the gun for her a week ago to keep her safe now that she is living alone, but he never thought she would actually have to use it.

Police believe the suspect also broke into neighboring homes.

The incident apparently started as a burglary at a home across the street, where the burglar was chased out a window by the residents. Police were apparently on the way to the neighborhood responding to that burglarly call when the suspect attempted to invade the widow’s home.

The widow fired multiple shots, at least one of which connected. The Democratic burglar was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital less than two hours after he was shot.

The article provides very little information about the widow, the son, the firearm used, or the deceased suspect, which is entirely normal in a breaking news story.

What is clear is that the widow did know how to load the firearm and use it to good effect to defend herself in this admittedly rough neighborhood.

We hope that is widow is able to cope with the trauma of being forced to defend herself with lethal force, and that the death of the suspect will convince other criminals in the community to keep their distance.

Concealed Carrying Pharmacist Saves Multiple Lives In West Virginia

Posted by Bob Owens on February 18, 2015 at 6:32 pm

A pharmacist in West Virginia reacted to an armed robber threatening his staff this morning by pulling his concealed handgun and firing “several” shots at the gun-toting robber, dropping the violent suspect in his tracks.

The robbery occurred about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Good Pharmacy on North Pinch Road, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department. Deputies said a masked male suspect entered the pharmacy and pointed a firearm at the staff. The pharmacist on duty pulled his own firearm that he was carrying concealed and fired the weapon at the suspect. The suspect was struck and fell onto the pharmacy floor. Staff at the pharmacy then began to perform lifesaving measures on the suspect.

The suspect was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital where he was taken into surgery. The suspect did succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deputies said the name of the deceased will be released at a later time pending notification to the family. Currently, based upon witness interviews and video evidence charges will not be filed against the pharmacist, deputies said.

You’ll note something in this story, I hope.

Those who spend their time and money to become proficient at self-defense pistolcraft tend to be hard-working professionals with a strong sense of family and community, who desire nothing more than to keep others safe from human predators that walk among us. They have no desire to hurt others, and only pull their weapons to save the lives of the good people in their homes, places of business, and community.

After shooting this suspect twice, the pharmacist didn’t attempt to finish off the suspect, nor did he or the staff stand around and watch him die. As soon as the robber was no longer a threat the staff called 911 and began attempting emergency medical procedures in an attempt to save the robber’s life.

I would love for people—especially people who are afraid of law-abiding concealed carriers—to really stop and think for a few minutes about the very different kinds of people represented in this story.

On the one hand, we have a violent predator who was attempting to take either cash or drugs (or both) through violent criminal acts. He was threatening to end the lives of innocent people for a small amount of money or a temporary narcotic high.

On the other hand, we had a pharmacist who willingly to take the inherent risk of going for his own weapon, making himself a target, in hopes of saving the lives of the other people in the store.

Once the robber dropped to the floor and ceased being a threat, the people who had just had their lives threatened over nothing shrugged off their shock and fear and resentment in order to attempt to save a human life, because they felt it was the right thing to do.

The right to bear arms for self-defense of ourselves and others is the most basic of all human rights precisely because we know that predators like this armed robber will always exist.

People who care about protecting their families and communities from violent predators will arm themselves against the eventuality of evil intruding into their lives.

You have the option of having options, or of being a victim.

Choose wisely.

...........
Don Radcliff first tried to diffuse the situation with humor when he saw the masked man at the counter, but when Terry Gillenwater, 25, produced a gun, Radcliff didn’t hesitate.

Radcliff pulled his concealed carry pistol and got a two-handed grip on it as Gillenwater’s view was obscured by two employers that the criminal had at gunpoint. Radcliff then stepped to the side, quickly raised his pistol, and center-punched Gillenwater with a shot that appears to have hit him in the heart.

The criminal clamped his left arm to his chest and wilted to the ground when he realized he’d been hit, then raised his gun at Radcliff to fire a shot. The pharmacist saw the movement and fired again, hitting the armed robber’s gun, rendering it inoperable. Gillenwater then attempted to flee towards the back of the store where customers and employees were attempting to hide, and Radcliff fired a third shot.

Gillenwater dropped, off-camera, no longer a threat.

Radcliff made sure that Gillenwater was no longer a threat, and then tried to render aid to the man who had just tried to kill him.

From first shot the last, the gunfight lasted just four seconds.

Radcliff was back on the job Thursday, shaken, but sure that he did the right thing in protecting his life and the lives of seven other customers and employees.

The deeply religious pharmacist was still trying to process the events of the day before that saw him fire three shots without a misstep. His daily devotional for the day seemed tailor-made for the occasion.

Radcliff said he has received tremendous support from his family and friends, but also from his faith. Radcliff shared Thursday’s devotion from his daily devotional.

“Thursday, February 19th, John 10, 7 to 18, ‘A thief comes only to steal and to kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.’ That’s verse 10,” Radcliff said. “Abundance isn’t God’s provision for me to live in luxury; it’s his provision for me to help others live.”

Radcliff said it is exactly what he needed to hear.

“So many times when I read this daily devotional it’s exactly what I need to hear. And today it was what I needed to hear,” Radcliff said.

Obama says you're OBLIGATED to condemn insults against Christians.

Obama: Americans Are “Obligated” To Condemn Religious Insults…

Keyword being “obligated.”

Via Weekly Standard:

There was a nugget in President Obama’s widely criticized speech at the National Prayer Breakfast earlier this month that hasn’t received the notice –- and, frankly, the opprobrium — that it deserved. (In fact, only Salon.com of all places, seems to have glommed onto it.) Towards the end of his remarks, the president sermonized thus:

“But part of humility is also recognizing in modern, complicated, diverse societies, the functioning of these rights, the concern for the protection of these rights calls for each of us to exercise civility and restraint and judgment. And if, in fact, we defend the legal right of a person to insult another’s religion, we’re equally obligated to use our free speech to condemn such insults — (applause) — and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with religious communities, particularly religious minorities who are the targets of such attacks. Just because you have the right to say something doesn’t mean the rest of us shouldn’t question those who would insult others in the name of free speech. Because we know that our nations are stronger when people of all faiths feel that they are welcome, that they, too, are full and equal members of our countries.”

OK, we all know Obama didn't really mean that to apply to anything except his Muslim faith.
