None of that matters if your car is in the shop all the time.

Theoretically though, electric motors and batteries should not break down like injectors, starter motors, etc. Well maybe batteries. But if you have solar the money you save would pay for the battery replacements.

There is no doubt in my mind electric cars are coming. They'd be here today full force if the charging problem was solved. As in capacitor batteries.
