Barry - Re:" this new profit stream that Intel will be accessing for
the first time with the Merced introduction "

Very Good Summary - thanks.

You might have added that in December 1996, AMD was looming as a major potential threat to Intel with the impending K6 launch.

As we exit 1997, AMD has done the bottle-rocket routine - a quick trip vertically upwards, then a slow fall to earth.

One less worry for 1998.

Oh - Cyrix did about the same.

Make that two less worries.

Paul

Barry Re "Just another $5-6B more in the bank."

Tomorrow would be a good day to put some of this to work IMO and
make some soothing statements. It is a very critical juncture not
just for Intel IMO.

Barry: Agreed, but for the stock to move the only consideration on
the street seems to be exceeding analysts expectations and nothing
else. Crazy but ture, is it not ?
