EMZ: This news is really disappointing. Some on the thread will recall that in 1995 Russian Minister for Fuel and Energy Yuri Shafranik was avidly persuing an interest in the Arakis venture. Simply put, the Russian's didn't have the dough and Alexander found his sugar daddy in the bogus Arab Investment group. Last year the Russians were trying to buy into the pipeline operation but were forced to the sidelines when Occidental made a big pitch. As far as I can learn no one was ever very impressed with Russian expertise, and I would suggest that market reaction would have been far different had a Western European outfit won the contract. I went bottom fishing and I was counting on a real December bump. Now I can only hope for a delayed reaction that will move this turkey upward. I wonder what role the former Oxy pipeline specialist who was picked up by Arakis earlier this year will play in this scenario? I would also love to have the Lundin reaction! Tumbleweed.
