The important point is that you on the left are trying to put forth O'Reilly's "transgressions" as some kind of counter to the Big Fat Lies told by Brian Williams. That is precisely what is happening here. I have stated here in the last week that I believe O'Reilly exaggerated the importance of his role; however, it is NOTHING like the Brian Williams exaggeration. So, the ploy failed.

While O'Reilly may have attempted to inflate the importance of his reporting in South America, it wasn't an outright lie as it was in the Williams case. And frankly, O'Reilly isn't the head of a major on-air news organization; he is a commentator, and the standards are different.

I really don't have anything further to discuss on this. To recap --

- Williams is a Big Fat Liar

- Liberals have tried to use O'Reilly to soften the lies of Williams. That has been a failure because there is no comparison

- O'Reilly, whatever he has done, is not that big a deal.

The CBS video -- starting about 4:30 in. One can draw his own conclusions; however, from my POV, O'Reilly's comments -- that he "covered the Falklands war" and that there was violence where he was located, are factual statements. Liberal reporters' comments over the last few days notwithstanding, I suspect any of those reporters would have said previously that they were "covering the Falklands War" -- which is what O'Reilly said.

Did O'Reilly exaggerate the importance of it? Perhaps. It would not be surprising if O'Reilly's views were exaggerated, but the video clearly supports his claim. That cannot be said of Brian Williams claims.
