Thanks between your comment and FUBHO's, I have figured out a strategy. I thought that I was doing that before but I didn't change the "Property / Location" setting. When I did that, it asked if I wanted to "move" the documents. I repeated the process for photos and music and that gave me the capacity to defrag the disk. Many thanks - this is a great board. I have mainly lurked since I can usually muddle along and there are some here who are a lot more than muddlers.
