You should study how "free" British society was that the Pilgrims fled from. The rich did whatever they wanted, when they wanted, to whoever they wanted. Labor unions at least diminished the beating workers were talking. The reason people went west was because they could "free" land from the Indians who were unable to defend what had been theirs. Gov't is a tool the wealthy use to keep workers down. Gov't unions are a bastardization of a true labor movement. Wealth could give a rat's ass which party is in power, whether D or R.

Do you have any idea why Europeans, among others, risked all to come here when it was a nearly free economy? Why they called this the goldeneh medina, the golden country, land of freeedom, justice, opportunity? Why America once led the world in escaping the natural condition of poverty? How America painfully extracted itself from a world where the average wage was maybe equal to two or three bucks a day?

Yeah, they came this country to make a buck .So what.
