Mike,

Ok, we won't feel sorry for you, even though you are shorting a
stock which is at a 2-year low. You should do your homework more
thoroughly on Atmel though...it can jump up 5+ points in a hurry
once everyone begins to jump onto the bandwagon. My guess is that
unless you cover your position before earnings, you'll be feeling
a pinch in your wallet.

Mike, shorters like you are welcomed. But, it is not the time.
The stock is at 2 year low. You don't want to short a stock at historic low. How much is the risk and reward for you? We here all know that Atmel can pop up very fast. So far, there is preannouncement. The company still has a positive side.

Wait until the stock is at 35-40, then short it. Shorters can knock it down, and we will buy it low. You should know Atmel is not the only stock that is having technical breakdown during this crisis.

Mike: The risk/reward for shorting ATML here just doesn't pay.
The potential for you to get smoked is pretty high on both
technical and fundamental factors.
I am not long ATML, but I am short Jan 98 + Jan 99 Puts.

Good Luck

Mike,

Please hold on to that short position. When the stock starts to move up, it's the short covering that adds a little gasoline to the fire.
