My guess is that Intel has aggressivelt cut prices for the same reason the always have. They sell a lot more computers when they do, which means more chips etc., etc.

If you think of a computer as a two-way communications tool selling more computers creates more demand (not less) because as more people get connected, their are more reasons to own a computer. Televisions are one-way communication, so the dynamics are not the same.

Intel may be even more of a buying opportunity than you thought!
