Yes, but leaders, especially in Europe, have known about Putin for quite a while.

This deal with Putin reminds me of Neville Chamberlain with Hitler.

People now are quick to ridicule Chamberlain for his moves in the late 30's but not so quick to criticize European leaders now for their actions with Putin.

Putin is doing exactly what Hitler did but not so "blitzkreigish".
