<Read the 2 letters and yes, you have to give MSFT high marks for cleverness> I would hae to chalk this one up to the DOJ's lackof research more than MSFT's cleverness. They listened to thier lobbyists and never bothered to find out if their lobbyists allegations made sense. Hence, it appears they are aboutot pay for it. <Well, this is what the whole thrust of the anti-trust action is about.> No it isn't. The anti-trust action is about protecting the consumer. MSFT's prices are currently lower than each and every one fo thier competitors and the guys lobbying the DOJ for action (the N.O.I.S.E - that is an acronym for NSCP, ORCL, IBM, & SUN for those that don't know). <... I mean they might win a few points for legal cleverness but they're losing big time in the court of public opinion.> Every single consumer that I know, outside of a small highly techincal cadre of folks (who happen to be a very small minority very similar to the guys that post here), want the browsing process integrated into the OS and simplified. They also tell me that they will opt for this combo regardless of what the courts say. If that statement is manifest, it will be representative of the force of market power and the folly/uselessness/waste of trying to lesislate economic supply and demand. You see, the popular minority, who also happen to be the techincal majority if you know what I mean, have succeeded in warping the democratic system in making it appear that the desires of the minority are representative of the desires of the majority. They have done this by crafty manipulation of our political system and the wielding of large sums of money and socio-political influence. In order to hear the desires of the majority, simply let the market speak for itself. There is no need to go to court to hear the roar of market demand, it will be loud and clear, especially in the fast moving technology markets during a major paradigm shift.
