U.S. Says Microsoft Defied Antitrust Ruling nytimes.com

The good gray NYT contitues its coverage of the escalating war on the internet, antitrust conterattack front. No comment this time around, except for my usual barb about the obsolete retail Win95 that's supposed to be such a disaster but is still the perpetual best seller. Must be what the customers want.

Of course, now the retail Win95 comes with an IE4 disk too, maybe retail Win95+IE4 is the same as OSR2? I might have to try it out, now that the reformat, reinstall drill is fresh in my mind. Now that I learned that you should keep a small partition for the OS, so you can reformat without having to restore the whole world, it's much easier, though still somewhat unaesthetic.

Oh, and one for the road:

Microsoft's Slate to Charge in '98 nytimes.com

Dang, next time around I'll have to rely on secondary sources to read what Charles "Rick" Rule has to say in defense of his clients.
