-I love those splash screens trying to sell me those useless trinkets, and on top of that, I get to be hassled about changing my long distance company.

Again, all you have to do is go to marketing preferences and TURN OFF all the pop-ups. Of course, the web has nothing like that going on, oh no, not the web. Right. Lets all sit back and enjoy every animated gif banner that populates the web, not to mention the stupid ass javascript consoles and pop-ups, which the damn webmasters can't even code right and you end up getting a GPF.

I'm not sure if you or anyone else has noticed the transformation of the web. When I used to surf with Mosaic, everything was FREE. Now, everything COSTS. The web has become an entreprenuers dream. Whether it is on AOL (where, at least you can control pop-ups and marketing) or the web, splash screens, banners, pop ups, spam, cookies, etc. will always be a fact of the internet.

Hey, at least with a cable modem you'll be able to cache those banners quicker, and won't have to worry about firing up your browser again when the javascript pop-up locks up....
