MSFT and WP

Okay some people will say why are you so pissed about MSFT. Well in the course of trying to get this brief out you have certain obstacles. For the Supreme Court a 30 page limit, a type size limit, a line spacing limit, a margin limit etc.

Having recently acquired a copy of NT workstation and a copy of Wordperfect, I tried to install the latter on the former. It wouldn't install. I couldn't get WP up on the NT system for 3 days. I tried everything including reloading NT from scratch and WP in many configurations. Finally I custom installed WP with only the bare necessities, leaving out all of the add-ons etc. and the WP installed.

It was pretty obvious to me that MSFT had thrown some roadblocks in there, the kind that make it impossible for normal people. Would you persist in such an effort if you could install Word effortlessly?

The NT came with a coupon to obtain a free thin manual. I sent in the coupon and get back a bill from MSFT saying call them to pay charges. I call them and tell them it says its free. The guy tells me oh there are shipping charges for all the manuals we are sending you. We are sending you a full set. I consent to the shipping charge. What arrives is one slim manual weighing a few ounces with overnight shipping charges of $10. I call them back and say where are all the manuals you promised? They say what other manuals?

You get the picture.
