Hawaii is so different from the mainland of the USA, particularly after one gets away from West and East Coasts. And so many memories-----mostly good.

Each of the islands is unique----tourist go mostly to Oahu------but there is Kawaii with the Valley of the Lepers, set up to combat Leprosey. And, the canyons windswept constantly carving the rocks -----I saw scenes like we saw there in canyon areas of the main part of USA.

The Big Island of Hawaii------and volcanoes still erupting. Volcano House built about the time that Mark Twain went to Hawaii. Twain -----about 1886. Twain did write a book about the Big Island of Hawaii (Amazon may have it----)

In 1967, the astronauts trained for the Flight to the Moon on the Island of Hawaii------anticipating perhaps a similarity to the Moon with the volcanoes of Hawaii .
