Dear Harvey- you are missing the point. Although MSFT acted heavy handedly they did nothing illegal. Have you read the Sullivan and Cromwell (MSFT's outside counsel) Letter to Justice or are you fortifying yourself with a general dislike for MSFT? Truly you should fight back buy a MACPPC!

Everybody carries this liability credit card around. Most people never use it. Other do and they are really surprised at the size of the bill they ran up when it comes time to pay.

Especially with that pesky treble damages thing that's written into antitrust law. As an aside to Mr. Dowd, IBM got off the hook on the big antitrust war when Bill's buddy Charles "Rick" Rule took over the antitrust division, but they lost their share of battles along the way, at some considerable cost. They also paid strict attention to the law in the interim. But never mind, we know the Microphile school of thought is that IBM screwed up, and Bill cleverly used them for his own ends, and nothing more need be said. And just as Microsoft's word on what is or is not an OS is final, so is Microsoft's lawyers' word on what the law is and how it applies to them. The executive and judicial branches just need a little education on their proper role here.

Cheers, Dan.
