DPMI catching Asian flu. Anyone know if DPMI is making masks for DUV 0.25 nm process? Note that predicted (up to 15%) shortfall is due to currency (won) devaluation and not reduction in orders. Tulvio ############## Dec. 18, 1997, DuPont Photomasks Inc. (Nasdaq:DPMI - news) said the Asian financial turmoil and recent devaluation of the Korean won is likely to have a ''material impact'' on financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 1998 and result in lower revenues and earnings than the company had expected. For the second quarter of fiscal 1997, DPMI reported net income of $9,433,000, or $0.61 per share, on revenues of $64,260,000. The company said the severity and pace of the Korean won devaluation during December has been a ''major challenge.'' Despite an active currency hedging program to reduce balance sheet translation exposures, DPMI said this quarter's earnings ''could be'' up to $0.10 per share lower than current analysts' estimates of $0.61 per share, depending on exchange rates and business conditions during the rest of this month. The company was unavailable for further comment.
