Larry L.: Iridium estimates.

Larry,

You seem to be the biggest proponent of Iridium on the board. Have you seen earnings estimated for Iridium for 1999-2002 for comparison against Globalstar's estimates? I would think there would be some available somewhere in analysts reports. Regardless of how good the systems are, it will all come down to profitablility for the investors and Wall Street.

Larry:

I did not say miles before when I posted that GEOs are at 35,000 km. They are at 22,000 miles, not 28,000. The voice delay on a GEO is .5 sec. Any LEO system it is in milliseconds--not a factor. As a matter of fact, there are now ways around even a GEO sized voice delay. New technology is supposed to have eliminated it. That will help the Thuraya system in the Arab States of the ACES Asian system, and also Loral's rural telephony. You can find all the info you want on CDMA at www.cdg.org, from the beginning until now. That is another area you can get into in defending Iridium(CDMA vs. TDMA). The founder of Qualcomm long ago demonstrated CDMA side-by-side with TDMA and there is definitely a difference. Does it make any difference in the real world? I doubt it.
