My last employer was one of these, with insurance so crap, I qualified for and
got Obamacare.
So what happened to the argument that he company provided insurance had to comply with ACA requirements?

Many companies provide totally useless health 'insurance', just so they can seem to provide it for potential employees. It's not until you use it as an employee that you realize how crap it is. My last employer was one of these, with insurance so crap, I qualified for and got Obamacare.

I tend to agree with one point the opposition makes, which is that plans which include mandated benefits make insurance more expensive for folks (like me) who can afford a riskier/higher out of pocket plan, in part because i am healthy and don't normally need medical attention...but this condition was heavily lobbied by the insurance industry and it probably has risk smoothing motives behind it...so it's not so simple to second guess some of these issues without all the data.
