Mike,

RE:Bryan's site

He says he's putting up a new one by year end. I think its focus will be all x86 alternatives or maybe all x86 chips.

RE:NSM process technology and production

National has forgone the local interconnect for their 0.35 and 0.25 processes which should simplify things greatly(so the experts say). They've also spent $170M over the last two years on process development.

According to the CC call, they've made 0.25 MXs which start at 233MHz with decent yields at their pilot facility. There will be difficulties moving to full production for this part and we can only hope they move down the learning curve quickly.

The GX is another story altogether. It was designed with ease of manufacturability in mind, so it can be manufactured at many foundries. I think the GXm has only four layers of metal(maybe 3?).

Getting South Portland up and running will not be easy, but I trust that the work they've done to this point will payoff.

Bob

PS In the Speedfam CC yesterday, they mentioned a large order from National for the South Portland fab(CMP systems).
