I'm pretty sure you'll never inhale it, either.

Eating marijuana is tricky. Takes a while to find the correct dose. For the novice, I'd suggest eating half a chocolate chip cookie, and waiting for 90 minutes before having more.... or else

The caramel-chocolate flavored candy bar looked so innocent, like the Sky Bars I used to love as a child.

Sitting in my hotel room in Denver, I nibbled off the end and then, when nothing happened, nibbled some more. I figured if I was reporting on the social revolution rocking Colorado in January, the giddy culmination of pot Prohibition, I should try a taste of legal, edible pot from a local shop.

What could go wrong with a bite or two?

Everything, as it turned out.

While the neo-Cons celebrate desertion charges for Bowe Bergdahl and declare this a disastrous mistake by Obama, let me just put this in a little perspective....

So it came out Wednesday that U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl is going to be officially charged with desertion. And since the announcement the neo-Cons have been going crazy blasting Obama for his handling of the entire situation.

OK, so let’s talk about this for a minute…
First of all, I really must say that while the righties are furiously insisting that getting Bergdahl back was definitely not worth trading 5 members of the Taliban, I’m just sorta wondering where the outrage and righteous indignation was when we decided that taking out Saddam Hussein was worth trading the lives of 4,500 American soldiers?

Now don’t get me wrong, I do believe that he should stand trial and be held accountable for his actions. However the key point still remains that whether or not Bergdahl was a deserter actually has no bearing on the fact that we leave no one behind. There is no exemption clause allowing us to pick and choose who gets saved and who doesn’t.

Yes, it’s tragic that lives were lost searching for him…no question… but unfortunately this is just another horrific inevitable product of war.

Sometimes we really do have to stop and look at the big picture to gain a little perspective. And so just to give you something to consider, let me point out that while Bowe Bergdahl is standing trial for his life, war criminals Bush and Cheney are still free men.
