My wife got a Basis "smart watch". It is disappointing functionally but the real deal breaker is that the back of the watch not only turns her wrist green, it inflames the skin. This from a watch you need to wear all the time, even when sleeping, to yield full functionality. Clearly the back of the Basis is base metal, not stainless steel.

My stainless steel Tag Heuer never does this. Hopefully, the Apple watch will be stainless, too.

Article also briefly discusses metals that cause itchiness

PS - some people actually wear copper rings and bracelets on purpose for dubious health benefits.
