Sierra Nevada Snowpack Near Historic Early-March Low: State Survey

According to a snow survey completed Tuesday by the California Department of Water Resources, the snow depth near Echo Summit ranged from 6 to 7.7 inches.

As of the latest readings earlier this month, snowpack on average amounts to only 19 percent of normal, only one percentage point above the lowest ever measurements of 18 percent taken in 1991.
