The amount of corporate data that is still in "legacy" systems on mainframes is staggering. Some of this data is in DB2 (a real database), but most is in ISAM or VSAM or similar indexed file schemes. This data will be moved (or the systems re-written) to relational (object relational?) databases.

To extend the analogy: If you have a color television, you may not need another one (although you may feel the need to upgrade to HDTV sooner than you think). There are, however, still plenty of shops with black and white sets or just plain old transistor radios. They will be buying database servers for years to come.
