Fresno's deputy police chief was among four people arrested on federal drug charges, including conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and heroin, authorities said Thursday. By MATT HAMILTON Second-in-command of Fresno police department and four others held on federal drug charges, authorities said. The second-in-command of the Fresno Police Department and four others were arrested Thursday on federal drug charges, authorities said.

Keith Foster, who joined the department in 1986 and worked as deputy chief since 2007, is accused of conspiring to distribute heroin, oxycodone and marijuana, according to the federal criminal complaint unsealed Thursday.

Foster was placed on paid administrative leave and the department pledged to investigate the drug conspiracy allegations.

"I'm at a loss for words, quite frankly," said Chief Jerry Dyer, adding that he learned about the investigation only after Foster was arrested. "This is a very very sad day for the Fresno Police Department, the citizens of Fresno, and the law enforcement profession."

That all irrelevant, Ted. According to our right-wingnuts, the only relevant piece of info is the unsubstantiated rumor in the right-wingnut-o'sphere that the pilot might have been a Muslim convert!

The Real Reason Harry Reid is Retiring

Dirty Harry is getting out of town why? He's afraid of a Republican Attorney General!

A Republican Attorney General would be almost certain to initiate a criminal investigation into Reid’s abuse of his political power in a brazen intervention in the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) issuance of EB-5 visas to investors in a Las Vegas casino and hotel that was represented by his son, Rory Reid, as was highlighted in a report released by the Inspector General of DHS last week.

If true, no kidding. That is pretty lax.

They should put a button on all airliners. If pressed, it doesn't allow the plane to descend below the level of the tallest object within 250 kilometers. If it is below that altitude, it climbs there. The only way to unlock it is to have ground control do it. If need be, ground control can move the plane to an underpopulated area in case someone wants to fly it until it runs out of fuel.

If feasible, maybe the option to force it down at a nearby airport. Not sure if this is practical, though. The rest could be done with a minor hardware addition, the button, and some software. Yes, the phrase "some software" can be incredibly complex, especially with systems that weren't designed to do that from the beginning. But it is conceivable and doesn't involve some really critical parts, unlike the force landing scenario.

Pew Researcher: Rate of Illegal Immigrant Males In Workforce 12 Percent Higher Than U.S.-Born Males

WASHINGTON, DC — An illegal immigrant male residing in the United States is more likely to be gainfully employed than a male who is a legal immigrant or U.S.-born citizen, a senior demographer at the Pew Research Center think tank told lawmakers.

In 2012, the most recent year for which data is available, an estimated 91 percent of illegal immigrant males were in the workforce. This compares to 84 percent of legal immigrant men and 79 percent of U.S.-born males, Pew Research Center demographer Jeffrey Passel in written testimony prepared for a March 26 hearing held by the Senate Homeland Security & Government Affairs Committee.

Put in a different way, legal and illegal immigrant males had a better chance to be in the workforce than U.S.-born men in 2012.
