A thought for 1998. . .

With $10,000 in 1956 and the good judgement to invest in Buffett's partnership at its inception (and transfer into Berkshire Hathaway at the partnerships termination) and today you would be sitting on an astounding $175 million -- after all fees and expenses.

What is more, you would have incurred only about $54,000 in income taxes during the entire 42 year period.

Good luck everyone, and happy holidays.

Here is another one that I think belongs on the sleeper thread...

An amateur investor in 1944, Anne Scheiber invested $5,000 in a small number of quality stocks and held on for the long haul. She almost never traded. When she died in 1995, her $5,000 had turned into $22 million -- a rate of return that places her in the company of super star investor Warren Buffet.

And once again, hooray.
