Larry, Iridium joined the CDMA Development Group, which is the cdmaOne body set up by those promoting cdmaOne such as most telecommunication companies with the notable exception of Ericsson.

It means the next constellation, if there is one, will be cdmaOne based! Hardly unexpected and as predicted by your resident expert on these things. The way Globalstar is planning to have a disused system, it just might be that Iridium gets to stay in business. Maybe they'll even defeat Globalstar in the long run based on the second constellation. The first one looks a dog, but should make money enough to stay in business since Globalstar seems determined to keep it that way.

Iridium has got a nice long lead now. Still no Globalstar satellites.
