The arachnoid layer is one of the coverings that surround the brain. I am not familiar with chemical aracnoiditis. But, I would assume that it is an inflamation of the arachnoid layer that is induced by a toxic chemical. Since cytarabin is toxic, I'm not surprised. I am surprised, however, because I was not aware of this side effect.
