A friend of mine makes a Buche de No‰l every year that is a sight to behold. Thick deep chocolate cream icing with shaved chocolate, little meringue mushrooms powdered with cocoa and candy holly stuck here and there. You could always make teensy tiny mushrooms and stick them on the cookies...but then again maybe not. Baking is too exact a science for me--I rarely follow the recipes (except for those Swedish butter cookies, which I slave over and make into wreaths, and those other snowball ones with nuts and powdered sugar). This post is making me very hungry.
