"Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this area." I really need to thank everyone who posts their thoughts, stock ideas, views, and everything else, here. Though I am still not a true dividend investor per se, even my trades now are made with the idea generating cash to put to work there. In looking back, I started getting my dividend "idea" in 2006. I believe I was looking for support when I started this board that November. I wanted to see what others were thinking and hoped some would be willing to share, so I could learn something. Trader Steve didn't want to have to admit that he sucked. I seriously do not except defeat very well. I believe being of a competitive nature has often given me a leg up in life. Even when just competing with myself, to get debt free early, get the girls through college debt free, and retire asap. Being part of the Silicone Investor community so long, many people that don't even know it, have had a hand in what has formed MY thoughts. Many are gone, especially the guru types. I once took my mom along to Atlantic City to gamble, her favorite hobby, while I went to a seminar with Doug R. lol! The list of dead portfolios here would be a long one. I had never seen a dividend one here though. I'd like to make a few bucks for my local SPCA through Seeking Alpha, but I am really not on the same page as they are. I had to rewrite my original article to show why I had bought and sold each stock in March. If you read it, you will see that I put as little as possible into that. I've never wanted to tell anyone what they should buy or sell. Ideas, sure, but that is as far as I want to go. I wanted to put out a concept, that I thought would help some investors. Jmho, dividend growth is sold to younger investors as THE way to go, when I believe going with some higher yield would benefit over the longer term. I would love to know what I know now and be 20 years old again, and run high yield / dividends / DGI vs. DGI alone for 20 years. One or my biggest disappointments is that Chowder was not willing to share this portfolio:Message 27787740 "It was on 11-23-2008 that I decided to go "all in" with dividend growth stocks. I have an account which holds 18 dividend stocks and I haven't put another dollar into that account since establishing it on 11-23-08. Therefore, it's easy to determine results." A person would have to be stupid to say that what he is doing for his son isn't great, but I find it too tough to know what is really happening, and the "good enough" mentality and I never really get along. Like you, I remember some good trades. One reason I am glad I have posted here, and recently copied every one of them to a blog, is so I can go back and see how much they actually helped or hurt me. We always remember the good ones. I know I still hold O from $18 and NRF from sub $6. Maybe I can get on that date thing.
