I think you miss the bigger point here. In exchange for a minimal improvement in coverage we will consume a huge amount of tax revenue. Now, you're argument would be, "Yeah, but that's revenue we would never have had," and fails to acknowledge the existence of any limitation at all on how much you can tax people.

The question ultimately is whether you get value for your money and we will spend well in excess of 1.2 Trillion over ten years to get it. No, it isn't all deficit but some undetermined about will be because we're not going to raise anywhere close to enough to cover the costs.

I don't argue that the projections put the deficit at 1.2T; however, it is plain to see that there will be significant deficits and far fewer people will be covered by the law than originally projected.

re: Dropping forecast, it is on Elmendorf's blog somewhere because I read it and it should be there. Here's a news account.
