Jim: Didn't we talk about this a while back????
That is, you said something about visiting CompUSA and seeing more Compaq on the shelf etc,and that this might indicate CPQ is not selling as well as the other brands, or something like that?? Well, I find an article which says 'more shelf space means more potential sales' etc. Here is an excerpt from it.

"Shelf space is a measure of potential, rather than actual, sales, according to ARS analyst Phil Magney. Shelf space numbers reflect not only the quality of the product, but the success of dealer programs and incentives that manufacturers provide.

"Shelf space is a precursor to what could happen," said Magney. "Shelf space is worth money and it's a finite thing. Who gets on that shelf is who is in a position to benefit."

For October, Compaq had an average of 3.16 units per store or 32 percent, compared to Toshiba's 2.14 units, or 22 percent. In October of last year, Toshiba led the pack with 2.1 units per store, or 25.9 percent, with Compaq coming in seventh place with 0.46 units, or 5.7 percent......."

jim,

<MM are manipulating the prices to close out the December options to minimize payout. DELL will close between 80 and 85 tomorrow. 82.50 would be a good bet.>

You do not know anything about options if you think it is to the benefit of MM to close DELL at $82 1/2 tomorrow! It will be better if it closes at $80 or $85 to make the most out of options!

<Baloney. The stock is behaving the same way it did last Christmas.>

I agree with you that it is behaving the same as it did last year at this time, but look at all the negatives that we have now then we did last year! Japan going down, Hong Kong going down, Korea more less broke, margin pressure on most all companies due to deflation, a tight labor market here which will cause wages pressures, interest rates falling and the Dow continues to go down and on and on and on! Better wake up!

Very happy I'm short and have losts of naked calls sold on DELL and a number of other high techs! I really and truely feel sorry for some of the DIE HARD DELL BULLS!
