Yes, that's exactly what I questioned as well, slowmo. It's very strange and suspicious that the video didn't show the conflict before the perpetrator ran. Very strange indeed, and even stranger that a black "youth" recorded it. He easily could have edited it and deleted key parts before he turned it over to the authorities. As for the bleeding heart leftists out there who are whining and screeching, "He shot him in the back," I wonder what they would say if the officer didn't shoot the perp, and then he ran, darted behind a tree, took a little girl hostage, held a knife to her throat, and then slit her throat as the police closed in? The same fools would be screeching, "The cop should have shot that ba$tard before he killed our little baby! Oh God! Why didn't he shoot the perp when he had the chance? Oh God! Our baby's dead because the cop failed to shoot!" Idiots! They will never learn in a million years. Regarding the perp, I would bet the farm that the son-of-a-bit¢h had an arrest record a mile long, coupled with repeated prison time for violent felonies. That's probably why he ran! He probably though, "Oh $hit! I'm going back to prison for violating my parole!" LOL! Anyway, one less violent problem is on the streets tonight, but damn -- SC lost a good officer who performed a good service for society. I hope that voters around North Charleston take note of that fool mayor, and vote his kissa$$ face out of office soon!
