When Geno Auriemma (he 10x champion women's coach) is asked about how to play with a big lead, he looks at you like you are crazy and says you continue playing what got you there to increase it more. He makes no apologies for leading by 20 at the half and hoping to be up 40 by the end of the game. Last night, up by 13, with 1:53 to go, UConn launched a (missed) three after only 10 seconds of possession. Notre Dame took just nine seconds to launch and hit an NBA three, and UConn then missed a layup after only 20 seconds of possession. There was no stalling. They took open shots when they had them. Then they played their usual good hard defense; no "don't touch for fear of foul" mentality. It's an attitude of "If we built this lead over the first 35+ minutes when we played our game, why should we change it now?" Think about how many times teams stall until 10 seconds on the shot clock, get off a crappy shot that misses, and the other team then somehow hits a prayer three off the glass five seconds later, and now it's a game? - Jeff
